The ability to connect threaded metal pipes allows for creative solutions to custom problems. I found it very easy to connect diverse compatible parts when making a custom assembly using a threaded coupler. Threads are on both ends. For example, I increased the height of the adjustable floor to ceiling column by combining this coupler with another other related part which acts as a threaded extension pole. The two parts seem to require this threaded coupler to make a strong connection.
